A Legacy in Photos: James’s Boyhood Session

One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is following a family’s story through the years. His mom, Marissa, wanted these portraits to mirror the boyhood photos taken of his dad, John, when he was a child. I first met Marissa and John during a study abroad trip in college. It was then that their love story began, and since that time I’ve had the privilege of photographing their journey together—from their engagements and wedding day to maternity sessions and beyond. Now, with baby number two on the way, their story continues, and it’s an honor to preserve these memories for them.

James’s session was filled with energy and curiosity—the hallmarks of boyhood. From running barefoot through the grass to pausing for those quiet, thoughtful expressions, every image carried the same authenticity and charm that his dad’s childhood portraits once held.
